You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers

When it comes to choosing a wedding florist, you may have lots of questions! Here are the most frequent questions we get asked and our best answers to them.

How far in advance should I book my wedding florist?

To ensure their availability and secure the services of a wedding florist, the ideal timeframe is typically 8 to 12 months before the wedding date, especially for popular wedding seasons and dates.

What factors should I consider when selecting a wedding florist?

First and foremost, you want to find a florist who understands your style. If a florist typically does weddings with traditional designs and colors, they probably aren’t a great fit if you’re looking to get out of the box and vice versa! Look for style and vibe first, then consider things such as experience, reviews or testimonials, budget compatibility, and communication style.

Can I get samples or mock-ups of the floral arrangements?

Not all florists offer samples or mock ups (and paying for a mock up may not be suitable for your budget) which is why it is important to select a florist who you are confident understands the vision of your day and has the skills to execute. Mock-ups are a great way to give you a visual representation of how elements will look on your wedding day and allows you to make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you are fully satisfied with the designs. If interested in a mock-up, ask your florist! But be prepared that they may charge these at a higher rate due to flower recipes, seasonal availability, etc.

Do florists deliver, set up, and clean up on the day of the event?

This will vary from florist to florist so be sure you know what your florist offers and if there are any additional charges for these services. Denizen is full service and delivery, set up, and clean up is built in to every wedding proposal.

Do florists provide additional decor items and rentals?

This will vary from florist to florist. In our experience, most florists have an inventory of hard goods available to rent for your event. These include candleholders, glass chimneys, vases, candleabras, etc. They may also have a selection of arches or backdrops you may utilize in your designs. Ask your vendor about available rentals and prices. If they do not have items you’re interested in renting, you may have to find a rental source elsewhere and coordinate getting these items yourself. What if the flowers I want aren’t in season?

If a particular flower is of utmost importance to you, seasonality of blooms is important to consider when choosing your wedding date. Your florist will be able to tell you what is available and in season at the time of your event. Obtaining flowers in their off season can be sometimes impossible or quite expensive if possible. Be open to alternatives and lean into what’s in season in your area at the time of your wedding.
